Mountain Dew's first logo Over the years, there have been numerous advertising campaigns to promote the brand and variants of its original recipe. With its electric green color, citrus taste and high caffeine content, Mountain Dew was the 4th most consumed soft drink in the United States in 2010. The company wanted to target a younger clientele. Seeing the great potential of this soft drink, PepsiCo then changed the entire brand image. ![]() In 1964, after negotiations with Coca-Cola, it was finally the multinational PepsiCo that got its hands on the rights to Mountain Dew. At that time, the company's brand image was quite different from what we know today. Mountain Dew was also another name given to moonshine – a bootlegged alcohol made from grain. ![]() Mountain Dew was originally created because people in the Knoxville area of the United States had difficulty finding sodas that could be mixed with alcohol. In 1948, this beverage was officially launched. Use the plugin of your choice to apply the LUTs to your footage.Before we begin our analysis, let's mention the history of Mountain Dew. For a great free plugin, consider mLUT from Motion VFX. To use LUTs in Final Cut Pro X, you will first need to download a LUT plugin. Open the Inspector with the overlay selected, and under Compositing, change the Blend Mode to Screen. Now in the timeline, select the first clip and the transition together, right-click, and select New Compound Clip. Change the Blend Mode to Silhouette Alpha. Click on the transition and open the Inspector. Add the transition above the first clip, and align with the end of the clip. Although we don’t feature this NLE in the video, the same rules still apply, but the steps are slightly different. The Video Editor Toolkit is compatible with Final Cut Pro X. Hit Browse… and navigate to the Video Editor Toolkit LUTs folder. Under Basic Correction, navigate to the Input LUT dropdown menu. Open the Effects Controls on the overlay, and under Opacity, change the Blend Mode to Screen. Remove the Track Matte Key from the clip that continues to play after the transition.ĭrag-and-drop the overlays onto the layer above your clip. Use the razor blade to cut the V2 clip at the end of the transition. Direct the matte to Video 3, and adjust the composite to Luma Alpha. Line up the transition with the end of the first clip and the beginning of the second clip.Īdd a Track Matte Key to the clip on V2. Then add the transition to the layer above the clips (V3).
